Summer sunlight brings a lot of inspiration; we want to get things done and suddenly have the motivation and time to do it. So if you wish to have a project, you can spend time with your teens while you do, or you’re itching to have an excuse to keep busy on your days off: home renovation is made for the summer!
The warm weather ensures paint dries faster, you can leave your windows open without freezing, and you have the most sunlight possible to ensure you can work later into the night: it’s renovation time.
These are the best projects to take on this season!
Getting Your Pool In Swimming Shape
Summer is for the pools! There’s nothing as fun as getting to enjoy a beautiful collection that has everything you want. If your pool is outdated or doesn’t have one yet, summer is the time to work on it. You don’t have to worry about getting to use it this summer; even if you’re starting from scratch, building a pool generally takes less than two weeks.
The top things you should do is modernize the equipment your pool uses, like the pump and filter, and ensure that everything runs well. From here, you can take more in-depth steps like replastering and retiling the pool, and giving it a fresh look. You can also redo the tile or restrain the concrete around your pool, so the entire area looks brand new.
Remodeling Your Bathrooms
Bathrooms may not scream summer, but there’s never a better time to do it. We’re less likely to have family over than we are in the winter, and everything dries faster in the summer. You can do a complete bathroom overhaul to create a space that’s comfortable to you, but there’s no need to rush.
Instead, you can update your bathroom step by step so that portions are still usable if it’s your only bathroom. For example, updating black bathroom faucets and the sink basin itself one day and then replacing the full toilet.
If you have another bathroom, you can use, consider updating them one after the other so that one is always available.
Consider a Shady Pergola
A pergola is a beautiful structure of wood and space that can turn any patio into a shady oasis. Fresh and new pergola design ideas can breathe a lot of new life into a room.
Think about playing with color, shape, texture, and even placement to create a backyard that you’re excited to walk out to. Design your yard around it, with shrub and flower placement accenting its shape, and you can make your yard into your dream space.
Painting or Changing the Exterior
A coat of paint is powerful. With a quick coat of paint, you can redo the entire vibe your home gives off and make it feel entirely new. Like going from a light yellow to a dark warm gray. Drastic changes can feel good and give your home the look you want. Although paint can be pricey and time-intensive, doing it in summer ensures that you’re timing it for most of the best home repair sales, that it will dry evenly, and that you can enjoy being outside looking at it.
Consider painting the other parts of the outside of your home, like your door and porch posts, a complimentary color so that it all flows together beautifully. Although you could paint it all one color, having some variances can allow a home to become an eye-catching piece of art. It’s okay to steal the show! As long as you ensure that your homeowner’s association is okay with this color, you’re in the clear.
Power Wash Your Troubles Away
If you’re updating your home, it’s a good idea to follow through and deep clean it as well. Any update looks better if it’s the first thing people notice, instead of stained concrete or pollen stuck to the siding.
Power washers are the best thing to happen to home maintenance. You can rent one for forty to a hundred dollars for a day and make even an old home feel new and fresh. The best application for a pressure washer is to scrub down your driveway, clean grout, brick, or scrub down the siding. Of course, you must practice on an area that doesn’t have windows on it first so that you can get used to aiming it and using it before you try.
Finish Summer With the House of Your Dreams
Although the season is only three months long, many of us can’t get enough packed into that quarter of a year! However, if your budget intelligently and layout a plan for yourself, you can achieve anything. Try at least one of these projects, and come out on the other side of the season with a sense of pride and accomplishment. The home you want isn’t impossible; it just needs a little work to achieve!
