Six Romantic Restaurants in Washington DC for Valentine’s Day

You’re on the clock once again. It’s February and you need to show that special someone just how important they are to you, so finding that perfect Valentine’s Day gift and dinner is paramount. This year Valentine’s Day falls on a Friday, so the restaurants are going to be packed.

If you are new to our city or just haven’t taken the time to sample the cozy eateries D.C. offers, we here at Eng Garcia Properties have put together our list of favorite romantic restaurants here in the District.

This is time-sensitive. Beat the clock! You can’t go wrong with one of these fantastic restaurants.

Komi 1509 17th St. NW

We will start with a heavy hitter here. And why not? Your sweetheart is worth it.

Komi is a high-end Greek dining experience and it will cost you a handful of those Valentine’s Day bucks– but it will be unforgettable. Owner and award-winning chef Johnny Monis will prepare your meal with decadence and style.

The food served is a rustic, Mediterranean flavor served in a dozen dishes. This is a four-star restaurant with intimate seating, parties of four or less only.

Capitol City Brewing Company 1100 New York Ave, NW

This for your honey who is a beer aficionado. Located four blocks east of the White House, Capitol City Brewing Company offers a more casual setting and its fare is hearty and familiar. With two of its own brews on tap to complement the nine from other breweries around the mid-Atlantic, there will be something for even the most distinguished of beer palettes.

The modern charm and friendly bar atmosphere will make for a relaxing–and surprisingly romantic– evening and is sure to send you home satisfied.

Red Hen 1822 First Street NW

If you and your sweetie are into Italian cuisine, the Red Hen will take you on a tour of the Old Country, carbs be damned!

This heavily Italian-influenced American restaurant, opened in 2014, in the celebrated Bloomingdale neighborhood here in D.C. Well-traveled and professionally trained chef/owner Michael Friedman brings you his favorite dishes from dinner through dessert. Breath in the sophisticated atmosphere and taste your way across Italy.

Mintwood Place 1813 Columbia Road NW

From large-format family meals to amazing brunches and happy hours, the flexibility and creativity of Mintwood Place have it all covered. If you and your loved one have wild tastes, come sample the polished classics with an ‘en vogue’ touch from Executive Chef Matthew Cockrell.

From vegan to Paleo the menu gets it right and will send you home with more than a full tummy, but with memories of an exclusive dining experience.

Oyamel Cocina Mexicana 401 7th ST NW

If Mexican fare is the food of choice for you and your significant other, consider Oyamel Cocina Mexicana. That name might be tough for most to pronounce, but all you need to know is that once you step inside, you are assured an amazing Mexican dining experience.

This isn’t a quiet little place for whispers of conversation, but a fast-paced vibrant restaurant whose cuisine is as tasty as the dining room is busy. You’ll find the menu creative from the cocktails to ceviche, to the incredible tacos. A top dining destination in the Penn Quarter, Oyamel Cocina has been in the area since 2004 and moved to this location in 2007. Plan your night out with your sweetheart at this award-winning establishment.

The Oval Room 800 Connecticut Ave, NW

Wanna take your date to a fine dining establishment where you’re likely to run into the “who’s who” of our nation’s political landscape, then book a reservation at The Oval Room.

If you’re a media junkie, it’s very possible you’ll be dining next to popular news anchors and reporters who also frequent the restaurant. Bold American dishes with a Mediterranean influence grace the highbrow menu. The varied cheese choices alone will get your mouth watering.

This place books up fast so make your reservation now.

You’ve Still Got time

The clock is ticking but you can still make a reservation at any of these diverse eateries.  See what’s available and ensure your sweetheart has an amazing Valentine’s Day. Their heart and stomach will thank you.
