Neighborhood Profile: 14th Street Washington DC. Is this the hottest address in town?

Everybody loves their own neighborhood and thinks their corner bistro is the best. But really, we are partial to 14th Street in Washington DC There is so much to love and so many places to visit.

If you’re looking for a way to spend your time on an unseasonably spring-like weekend this is the neighborhood for you.

14th Street is for Hot Times & Hot Food

If you haven’t made it out to the Colada Shop, you might be the only person in town who hasn’t. It’s been packed And why not?

Amazing Cuban food, great coffee, and rum drinks that had us feeling like we were on vacation within five minutes of leaving the office. Chef Mario Monte has created a place to gather and hang out for hours with your friends, and maybe make a few new friends along the way.

Mexican Hot Chocolate is back at Ice Cream Jubilee and what could be better in the middle of a spring day?  We stopped there after we checked out the new Madewell store that just opened a couple of weeks ago and then spent hours (literally) at Som Records.

Sunday can be dedicated to brunch at Le Diplomate. So many amazing wines, beers, and cocktails, and all of the carbs the pastry baskets could hold made for an amazing cap on the weekend. The only problem is tearing yourself away to get ready for Monday!

If you want to be close to your favorite shops, restaurants, and bars, you’re in luck, because there is so much construction being done in this area. Here are a few of the upcoming projects you might want your Eng Garcia  Realtor to keep you posted on:

  • Barrel House Liquor Redevelopment: The Historic Preservation Review Board just approved preliminary designs for the redevelopment of Barrel House Liquors, although there are some revisions in the works. The building will be a mixed-use space that will include 35-40 residences atop street-level retail. The good news? The iconic barrel will stay in place, making this a fun and distinctive place to call home. Expect sales by the end of 2020.
  • 2213 14th Street NW: The Eisen Group is designing an expansion of the current three-story commercial building into a seven-floor building. This will make room for almost 6000 sq. ft. of ground-floor retail, topped by 40-50 condo units. There will be a basement garage with 15 spaces as well as an outdoor patio on the penthouse level. Expect sales in late 2020 or 2021.
  • And of course, the one everyone waited for, Elysium Logan is here. This eight-story development on nearby Rhode Island Ave. is set to open with some condo units as large as three bedrooms. There are be 32 luxury units total, seven of which have private elevators. Three duplex penthouses have roof decks. Some units also have parking spaces on the basement level.
